Music is a powerful thing. It can change the tone of a service and even change the attitude of the listener. David was a musician that could play skillfully. We find that when Saul had an evil spirit come upon him, he would call for David to come and play and the evil spirit would depart from him. I Samuel 16:23 says: “And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.”
One of the greatest assets of any church is their musicians. The difference in having church and just gathering many times depends on the anointed playing of the musicians. We find throughout the Word that instruments of music were used in worship, marching into battle, and celebrations of victory. We have a lot to celebrate as we realize the great price that was paid on Calvary.
